Where does Equine vet rank on the overall list of salarys?

I’m planning on becoming an equine vet and was wondering how much it pays.

Check out Salary.com – it’s a pretty decent site, although the salaries are a bit inflated. See you find and take off 15% and it will be in the ball park.

    Hmm, that’s a toughie. :/

For a new graduate, it’d be about £20,000 ($40,000) per annum

For someone with more experience and who is well respected such as John Burgess, it’d be about £45,000 ($90,000) per annum.

    Good luck :)

Remember that whatever estimate for salary you get that it will depend very much on exactly where you end up practicing. Certain areas of the country and certain types of facilities pay more than others. And be sure to figure in the fact that equine veterinarians don’t have a life–clients expect you to be available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year no matter what else is occuring in your personal life or your health. And for foaling season (about 4 months a year) you cannot be more than 20 minutes from the veterinary clinic because you have to be available for mares who are having problems.
